Faith in Action: Strengthening Families, Multiplying Disciples, and Transforming Underserved Communities in the Kivu Region

Reporter: Mukulumanya, Country Director | Facilitator: Sages

International Gospel Response Ministries (IGRM) continues to bring hope, healing, and Christ-centered transformation to the communities we are reaching at this stage of our ministry through discipleship, leadership development, women’s empowerment, child mentorship, and faith-based humanitarian initiatives in the Kivu region.

Hope in Motion Within the Communities We Are Reaching

This week, IGRM teams continued advancing spiritual development, leadership formation, and community resilience in the communities we are reaching at this stage of our ministry. The Gospel is for all people, and IGRM continues to serve the communities we are reaching at this stage of our ministry, bringing discipleship, empowerment, and hope to families in need. Through indoor worship gatherings, open-air meetings, home fellowships, youth mentorship circles, and women-focused trainings, people experienced healing, encouragement, and renewed spiritual strength. Every engagement created space for restored dignity and strengthened faith.

“I have found strength to rebuild peace in my home. I feel strengthened,” shared Jonathan from Bukavu.

Ministry Highlights

Worship Services (6)
Six worship services—conducted both indoors and outdoors—brought believers together in unity to worship, pray, and receive biblical teaching. Many participants expressed renewed motivation to share the Gospel in their households and communities.

Children’s Sunday Schools (6)
Six dynamic Sunday school sessions taught children biblical values such as courage, honesty, kindness, and leadership. Teachers encouraged creativity and participation, helping children grow in faith and confidence.

Women’s Leadership & Skill-Building Trainings (5)
Five empowerment sessions equipped women with practical skills in small-business management, budgeting, and spiritual leadership.
“I now believe I can start something small and make it grow,” said Claudine from Walikale.

Youth Mentorship & Life-Skills Circles (3)
Three mentorship circles helped young people explore identity, leadership, and spiritual maturity. Through discussions and activities, youth expressed commitment to becoming responsible and faith-driven leaders in their communities.

Home Fellowship & Pastoral Care Visits (4)
Four home-based fellowship gatherings and pastoral visits provided prayer, encouragement, and emotional support. These intimate meetings strengthened families, restored hope, and addressed personal and spiritual needs.

Discipleship & Evangelism Teams (4)
Four discipleship gatherings focused on Scripture study, mentoring, and planning outreach within surrounding neighborhoods. Several families expressed interest in joining new home-based fellowships next week.

Food Support & Community Relief (2)
Two relief initiatives provided essential food items to vulnerable households facing economic challenges. These interventions offered practical help, renewed dignity, and encouragement to families in need.
