Faith in Motion: Reaching the Unreached, Restoring Hope, and Multiplying Leaders

Reporter: Mukulumanya, Country Director | Facilitator: Sages

Meta Description: International Gospel Response Ministries (IGRM) is transforming lives in targeted communities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo through Christ-centered worship, discipleship, women empowerment, and faith-based humanitarian programs—restoring hope, multiplying leaders, and strengthening underserved families.

Faith in Action in Local Communities

This week, IGRM teams advanced the mission of spiritual and practical transformation in several rural and urban communities within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. True to our founding heart, we go to the hardest places—reaching the unreached and touching lives often overlooked. Through indoor and open-air worship services, Sunday school classes, discipleship groups, and empowerment initiatives, local believers experienced renewed hope, personal growth, and tangible support. Every gathering—whether in church halls, homes, or outdoor community spaces—served as a beacon of encouragement and a platform for multiplying disciples and leaders.

“I never imagined that someone would come to teach us about faith and leadership here. I feel seen and empowered,” shared Marie, a widow in Mwenga territory.

Ministry Highlights

Worship Services (6)
Six worship services—both indoor and open-air—brought communities together in Bukavu, Mwenga, and surrounding villages to praise, pray, and receive biblical teaching. Participants left spiritually refreshed and motivated to lead others in spreading God’s love.

Children’s Sunday Schools (6)
Six Sunday school sessions nurtured children in biblical values, creativity, and leadership. Teachers emphasized perseverance, kindness, and faith, equipping the next generation to become resilient, Christ-centered changemakers.

Women Empowerment Workshops (4)
Four workshops guided women in leadership, spiritual confidence, and entrepreneurship. Many shared transformative stories:

“I learned how to run a small business and trust God at the same time. My family now has hope,” said Aline, a single mother in Kalehe.

Single Mother Support & Training (3)
Three sessions guided single mothers in vocational skills, mentorship, and faith-based encouragement, helping them cultivate stability, resilience, and confidence to provide for their families.

Widow Care & Visitation (6)
Six home visits delivered prayer, encouragement, and practical support to widows.

“I feel seen and valued; I know God has not forgotten me,” shared Joséphine, a widow in Shabunda.

Bible Study & Discipleship Groups (6)
Six groups explored Scripture, mentorship, and mission strategies. Several participants committed to launching new home fellowships and discipleship groups, continuing the ripple effect of Christ-centered transformation.

Community Fellowship & Outreach (4)
Four fellowship gatherings—both indoor and open-air—strengthened unity, leadership confidence, and collaborative outreach plans for local communities in South Kivu. Believers connected, shared testimonies, and envisioned practical ways to serve their neighborhoods.

Why This Work Matters

Spiritual Growth: Discipleship groups and worship services—indoors and outdoors—are nurturing leaders equipped to multiply their impact across families and communities.

Empowerment & Dignity: Women, widows, and single mothers gain practical skills, confidence, and spiritual strength to transform households and neighborhoods.

Reaching the Hardest Places: IGRM was born with the heart to go to the hardest places, ensuring even the most marginalized and unreached communities are touched with Christ’s love.

Community Transformation: Fellowship gatherings, mentorship, and discipleship initiatives foster unity, cooperation, and sustainable change rooted in faith, service, and compassion.

Looking Ahead

In the coming weeks, IGRM DRC will:

  • Launch additional Bible study and discipleship groups in underserved rural communities of South Kivu.
  • Expand women and single mother empowerment initiatives to strengthen more families.
  • Strengthen evangelism and church-planting outreach in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
  • Introduce faith-based humanitarian projects addressing education, food security, and holistic community development.
