Skills & Vocational Training
Purpose
To support unemployed and underemployed youth and vulnerable women by strengthening leadership, employability, and life skills. The program equips participants with practical tools for education, vocational pathways, and small income-generating activities, enabling them to build stable and dignified futures.
Why This Matters
Many young people in refugee and post-conflict communities face limited opportunities, social isolation, and uncertainty about their future. Without mentorship and foundational life skills, their potential remains unrealized. This program provides structured guidance, encouragement, and practical learning that helps participants grow in confidence, responsibility, and community engagement.
What We Do
• Teach leadership development and ethical decision-making
• Provide career awareness and vocational exploration sessions
• Strengthen communication, time management, and basic financial stewardship skills
• Foster social cohesion, conflict resolution, and community responsibility
• Facilitate small-group mentorship that encourages cross-cultural interaction and peer support
Impact
Participants gain confidence, practical skills, and a renewed sense of purpose. Many report improved decision-making, stronger leadership abilities, and greater readiness to pursue education, training, or small income-generating activities.
“I learned how to manage my household finances and plan for the future,” shared a participant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. “Now I feel confident supporting my family and helping others.” Similar growth is being seen among youth participating in the program in Kenya.
