Life-Skills & Employability Foundations for Refugees
Purpose
To strengthen foundational life skills that enable economic participation, workplace readiness, and personal confidence. Participants develop practical abilities that support daily living, self-sufficiency, and successful engagement in any work or community environment.
Why This Matters
Many refugees face barriers to employment, independence, and community engagement due to limited access to training, guidance, and support. This program equips participants with essential life skills, resilience, and confidence, empowering them to navigate challenges, pursue opportunities, and thrive in multicultural settings.
What We Do
- Teach basic life skills and personal development strategies
- Provide practical guidance to improve daily living and self-sufficiency
- Develop communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Promote time management, reliability, and personal responsibility
- Foster resilience, goal-setting, and personal growth
- Engage participants in group activities that encourage cross-cultural interaction and collaboration
Impact
Refugee youth, adults, and families gain transferable skills, confidence, and the ability to navigate daily life and work opportunities successfully. For example:
“Learning time management and communication skills helped me land my first job and feel confident at work,” shared a participant in Kakuma Refugee Camp. Participants also form supportive, multicultural networks that strengthen community cohesion and mutual encouragement.
International Gospel Response Ministries (IGRM Canada) equips disciples and leaders to transform communities through the Gospel and compassionate action.
