Community Care & Fellowship
Purpose
To support unemployed and underemployed youth in developing leadership, life skills, and community engagement, fostering personal growth and cross-cultural collaboration. Sessions equip participants with practical skills, ethical decision-making, and social awareness that are transferable across settings.
Why This Matters
Many youth in refugee and underserved communities face limited opportunities, social isolation, and lack of guidance for leadership and life skills. This program empowers them to discover their potential, engage positively with their communities, and build bridges across cultures. By nurturing skills, confidence, and ethical awareness, participants are prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
What We Do
- Conduct sessions on leadership, life skills, career awareness, and ethical decision-making
- Facilitate vocational exploration and personal development activities
- Encourage group activities that promote cross-cultural interaction and social cohesion
- Teach practical hygiene and wellness practices for safer, healthier living
Impact
Participants gain confidence, practical skills, and a sense of purpose while developing leadership potential. Youth learn to work collaboratively across cultures, strengthening community ties. For example:
“Through the program, I discovered my potential to lead community projects and help others,” shared a youth participant in Kakuma Refugee Camp. Group activities allow youth from different cultural and national backgrounds to build friendships, learn from one another, and apply life skills in real-world contexts.
